Reflections WEEK 6

During this week we have learnt how to create an Excel Spreadsheet to record children marks, giving different percentage to each evaluated activity. In my short professional experience in education I have observed how some teachers work with endless and full of calculations hand written charts in the creation of the final mark, while others simply introduced the formula and percentage of each grid and let the PC to do their work. In the health state of each type of teacher previous to the evaluation day, it was obvious the advantages this tool provides teachers. Personally I have used this tool in different occasions (to mark construction, statistics calculations...) but still, I must to admit that from time to time I forget how to enter the formula and I need to rethink again about its possibilities. Nevertheless, something I had not used before and I found very useful, it was the option of indicating with a particular colour a specific level. In the class those students obtaining under 5 in their marks, were highlighted in red.

The text read about Ebook, it surprises me to read that this tool enhance children motivation and literacy. It states that using New Technology is appealing to children which improve the interest in reading. I personally find difficult to believe that children would read more just by the fact of having an ebook, although this device provides with new ways of reading in the class, which can introduce new pedagogical approach to the traditional “reading out loud” class.
