The principal aim of this activity is to introduce the students in
English culture. As a consequence in every unit the students will dig into
different English countries. As we know, it is necessary to know about the
culture in order to acquire the language, consequently, this is the main reason
of the task. Furthermore, they are likely to develop other skills such as group
skills (when doing collaborative activities), as far as covering some of the
contents of Geography or History when investigating about the countries.
Specially this time, they are going to explore about Scotland. The task
is designed for the 3rd cycle of primary (6th grade).
The task on itself is a Webquest created with Zunal.
The activities are separated into section following the structure of the
webquest. Basically
the webquest has 4 activities.
1- They need to answer the questions proposed in the first part “ About
Scotland”. They have to consult the resources proposed below the questions in
order to answer them. In order to know about the location of the country they
will use Google Earth (if it is installed) or Google Maps.
They will note the relevant information in a shared document in Drive.
2- They will do a video conference through Skype with some
students from an Scottish school. This way, they will answer to the second
section of questions “Scottish culture”. They will note the information on a
Drive document.
3- They need to do a collaborative report with the information
collected, they can consult the examples given and also the visual organized
proposed. They will create the report on Drive and they will with the
teacher.
4- Once they have done the report they will need to summarize the

5- They will be evaluated through some rubrics created with the Rubristar.
